Organizational Structure

A team led by WDN Director Michelle Bekkering at the International Republican Institute in Washington, D.C. directs and conducts events, activities and communication for WDN members around the world. They are assisted by an international Advisory Council of 14 women leaders who provide strategic counsel, expertise and experience.

Most importantly, the WDN is a member-driven network and depends on guidance directly from its membership to determine the needs of women across the globe. This information is used to design and implement programming and to accurately address the issues and concerns of Network members.

WDN’s members serve as an important component of WDN’s organizational structure. To date, the Network is active in 55 countries in Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa. In 15 countries, women have formed WDN Country Chapters, which are WDN partnerships with groups of women who coalesce to conduct volunteer activities to promote specific issues in their country.
