Launched in 2010, the Moldova Chapter brings together women leaders from politics, civil society and business to address issues facing women. The Chapter also promotes and encourages women to seek decision making positions in the Moldovan government.
In 2010, the Chapter formed a partnership with the Moldovan Women’s Parliament Caucusto advocate for and support legislation that particularly impacted women. In 2011 they issued a joint statement calling for the equal representation of women in parliament.
Prior to the 2011 local elections, the Chapter partnered with women parliamentarians to hold workshops for candidates using a manual they developed on campaign planning, fundraising and public speaking. The Chapter also worked with UN Women to develop a series of debates focused on issues associated with violence against women. In 2012, as a follow-up to its successful debate series, the Chapter launched a national campaign to eliminate domestic violence. The campaign is designed to raise awareness and educate women and young girls on their rights as well as existing laws.
