WDN Member Achievement: Raquel Munt Runs for City Council in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Raquel Munt, co-founder of the Argentina chapter of the Women’s Democracy Network (WDN), recently ran for city council in Buenos Aires on her parties list. This was the first time Munt was chosen by her party, Compromiso para el Cambio, to run on the list.

Although the coalition, Propuesta Republicana, which Munt’s party was a member of did not win enough votes to put her on the council the experience she has said she will run for to raise the issue of gender-sensitive legislation and pave the way for future female politicians.

Prior to running for office, Munt and fellow chapter member Gladys Gonzalez designed and conducted a women’s political leadership school for 1,500 women throughout Argentina.
